The Don and Judy McCormack Endowed Visiting Artist-Scholar in Residence: 'Lessons in Gratitude: A Poetjournalist's Journey of Identity, the Arts, and Mental Health'

MacArthur Fellow and Founder of The Sphinx Organization Aaron Dworkin returns to Skidmore to lead a wide-ranging discussion on poetry, identity, the arts, and mental health. The event features a poetic reading performed by Dworkin to an original piano composition by Eli Jean-Francois '25. Associate Professor of English Maggie Greaves will moderate a discussion on poetry and community following the performance. A reception will conclude the evening. 'Windshipped' screening and filmmaker Q&A

Join Environmental Studies and Sciences, the Sustainability Office, and Sustainable Skidmore for a screening of "WindShipped" with filmmaker Jon Bowermaster. "WindShipped" tells the story of Captain Sam Merrett, who sails his sail-freight up and down the Hudson, delivering goods to a dozen ports without using any fossil fuels. Bowermaster will introduce the film, which runs for 40 minutes, and then entertain questions. Contact Anne Ernst with questions.

Screening + Filmmaker Q&A: 'InterGeneration'

Carolyn Shadid Lewis' “InterGeneration” (2023) is a creative documentary that combines storytelling, art, and animation to explore intergenerational connections, following Boston teens in an after-school program as they connect with elders in their community during the early stages of the pandemic. Shadid Lewis will hold a Q&A following the screening.

Annual David H. Porter Classical World Lecture: 'The Making of 1177 BC: A Graphic History of the Year Civilization Collapsed'

Join illustrious comic artist and author Glynnis Fawkes as she presents her latest work, a graphic-novel adaptation of Eric Cline's best-seller, "1177 BC: The Year Civilization Collapsed." Her presentation will include remarks on the nature of adapting scholarship into the comics medium and on her long career as an artist.
